Illamasqua nail varnish

Illamasqua, as a makeup company, started from the roots of the 1920s club scenes, they took a lot of their inspiration from the film and theatre in that era, more alternative and dramatic looks. They believe in the power to express, be whoever you wish to be , through the use of make up, as if an alter ego.

“Illamasqua is for the bolder person hiding inside all of us. It is an act and an attitude. A symbol of tolerance. A celebration of idiosyncrasies. A confident statement of self-ownership.”

Illamasqua have a variety of amazing products, which I love but I had never tried their nail varnishes, until I was in my local Debenhams store and the range of colours blew me away. I had to give them a try!

Illamasqua nail varnishes come in at £13.50 and is a 15ml bottle. They have well over 50 different colours to choose from, from white, peacock green, gold glitter to black (their colour range is one of the best I have ever saw, can find something for everyone). The colour I picked up, funnily enough was called “grab”. A stunning baby pink colour.

When using the nail varnish, the first thing I noticed was how beautifully creamy the varnish was, very luxurious. The colour was as beautiful on my nails as it was in the bottle, magenta glossy polish - something that doesn’t happen often with many nail varnishes I have tried. It went on thick and creamy to my nails, spreading the colour wonderfully. I only needed to do 2 coats til I was happy with the outcome (You could definitely get away with 1 coat, I’m just OCD about it). I noticed this nail varnish is also really hard wearing and doesn’t chip easily - HOORAY, FINALLY! It has a very high gloss finish whilst maintaining that beautiful colour intensity.

I would definitely say get down to your local Illamasqua or their online store and check out the amazing variety of varnishes they have, for everyone. This is the best nail varnish I have tried, from 3 reasons. The intense colour, for being hard wearing and for the high glossy shine!
